| Montestigliano is about 15 minutes southwest of Siena. The closest airports with direct flights from the U.S. are Rome (about 2 and ½ hour drive to Montestigliano) and Milan (about a four hour drive; be sure to note whether your flight comes into Malpensa on the northwest side of Milan or Linate on the southeast). Connecting flights from European cities are available to Florence (one hour drive), Pisa or Bologna (two hour drive). A car is essential to take advantage of the area surrounding Montestigliano. Most of the major car rental agencies have offices and pick up points at airports. Siena has a train station and offers bus service to and from major cities with connections to many of the smaller towns. Rentals are by the week, from Saturday to Saturday.
